Prof. dr. Piet Rietveld (61) passed away

On 1 november 2013 we received the shocking message that Prof. Piet Rietveld has died. Piet was not only one of the best transport researchers worldwide, he was also one of the most sympathetic and pleasant persons to collaborate with. The past decades several TRAIL researchers have collaborated with Piet in many ways. We wish his family and colleagues a lot of strength with this incredible loss….

We are happy and proud to announce the decision of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and its Accreditation Committee on Research Schools (ECOS) to re-accredit TRAIL as a Research School for the 2013-2018 period!

TRAIL Staff member Karst Geurs is appointed Full Professor Transport Planning at the Centre for Transport Studies (UT). His research focuses on interactions between land use and transport, accessibility modelling and evaluation and the dynamics in travel behaviour. From 2009-2013 he was Associated Professor at the CTS. He worked at the National Institute for Public Health and Environment from 1997 and moved to the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency in 2005.
